Located in Westbrook, Maine, Silvex is a second generation family owned and operated business that has been servicing leading manufacturers from New England and all over the United States for over 50 years. Richard Atkinson acquired the company in 1968 and built it based on the basic fundamental principles of integrity, quality, and providing our customers with the highest level of satisfaction possible. Today, many years later, those same basic values are continued through his son Dan, son in law Phil, and the entire Silvex staff.
Although Silvex specializes in silver and platinum plating, we also offer a wide variety of finishes processed to ISO 9001:2000, NADCAP, AS91000 and numerous other company standards for the defense, aerospace, power generation, hotel ware, firearms, and medical industries. It is the experience that we have gained from this diversification that has enabled us to excel in the surface finishing industry.
In 1986 Silvex built a new 40,000 square foot fully encapsulated stone plating facility that was designed specifically for environmental compliance, safety, and process efficiency. Silvex has proudly received accolades in various publications throughout the metal finishing and manufacturing industry for it’s innovative building design. Silvex can produce over 20,000 lbs of material per shift while successfully reducing its environmental impact on a daily basis.
Our greatest strength is our employees. Many of whom have been with Silvex for 20 or more years. Our technical staff alone has over 100 years of combined experience in the industry. All employees at Silvex understands the importance of their role in helping our customers achieve their goals. It is our positive “whatever it takes” attitude that helps create customer loyalty and encourages our customers to partner with Silvex for all of their metal finishing needs.
