The process to become NADCAP certified is a challenging one, which is exactly what distinguishes the good suppliers from the great suppliers. Businesses that are committed to putting in the effort in order to excel in their industry and offer top performance are, without question, the ones you want to work with. Below, we’ve outlined what you can expect from a company that has NADCAP accreditation, including Silvex Inc.

What is NADCAP Certification?

NADCAP, formerly called the National Aerospace and Defense Contractors Accreditation, is an international cooperative of companies committed to special processes and continued improvement within the aerospace and defense industries. This industry-managed approach brings together experts from both government and industry sectors to streamline operational program requirements for suppliers.

Prior to the implementation of NADCAP, companies audited their own suppliers based on their own specific processes, which resulted in duplicate audits – and ultimately, a larger workload – with little to no value. The Performance Review Institute (PRI) was established in the late 90’s to implement the NADCAP program and streamline audits across the industry, changing the standards for these organizations completely.

Benefits of NADCAP Accreditation

There are seemingly endless advantages to working with a NADCAP-certified organization; in fact, oftentimes companies will only work with organizations that have this accreditation. Some of these benefits include but are not limited to:

  • Guaranteed full compliance with industry standards
  • Accreditation serves as a “pre-approval” for new business
  • Manufacturing process becomes faster, more efficient, and cost-effective
  • Considered a vote of confidence when choosing companies to hire for contract work
  • Serves as verification that your business follows industry-standard practices
  • Promotes a strong commitment to safety

Some companies will tend to request NADCAP-certified organizations, while others mandate them – examples including Honeywell, Rolls Royce, and Boeing. According to NADCAP’s 2009 Supplier Survey:

83% of suppliers reported quality improvement in the areas for which they are NADCAP certified.

60% of suppliers reported that they feel NADCAP accreditation has improved their standardization processes.

54% of respondents reported that NADCAP has aided them in securing new business.
